ABOUT US

Our Mission

The Nashville Old-Time String Band Association is dedicated to sharing and promoting old-time music everywhere, but particularly throughout Middle Tennessee. Membership in NOTSBA is open to anyone who has a love for old-time music, but membership is not required to attend our events. Musicians of all ages and abilities are welcome. Our members love to play and are quite active. We meet several times a month at various places in the Nashville area to jam. We also get together on the fourth Sunday of each month for a jam and potluck at members’ homes. We maintain a Performance Ensemble that plays for regional events, festivals and dances throughout the year. In addition NOTSBA hosts Breakin’ Up Winter each year in early March at the Cedars of Lebanon State Park.

We began as an outgrowth of classes under Stratford/East Nashville Community Education in the mid-90’s. Nashville Old-Time String Band Association, Inc. was established in 2005 as a Tennessee-chartered and IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
